Exam Pattern
Three stages, no optional subject
RAS is conducted by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC). Unlike UPSC, RAS Mains has no optional subject — all four papers are General Studies / General Knowledge plus a language paper, and Prelims marks are purely qualifying (not counted toward final merit).
Preliminary Exam
150 MCQs · 3 hours · General Knowledge & General Science · 1/3rd negative marking per wrong answer. Screening only — not added to final merit.
Main Exam
4 compulsory descriptive papers, 200 marks each — General Studies I–III plus a General Hindi & English paper. No optional subject.
Personality Test
Interview evaluating communication, general awareness and — distinctively — knowledge of Rajasthani culture and administration.
Prelims (200 marks) is qualifying only and is not added to the final merit list.
2026 Notification
Key dates
607 vacancies (192 State Services + 415 Subordinate Services), notified 27-May-2026 (applications: 04-Jun to 03-Jul-2026). Official syllabus released 09-Jan-2026. Prelims exam date: 06-Dec-2026 (revised from the originally announced 29-Nov-2026, per RPSC's official press note).
