One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC)

A scheme allowing National Food Security Act beneficiaries to access their entitled subsidised food grains from any Fair Price Shop in India, enabling portability for migrant workers.

Context & Background

Piloted 2019; reached full national coverage (all 36 states/UTs) by June 2022.

UPSC Exam Relevance

Enabled by Aadhaar-seeded ration cards and PoS machines; part of JAM Trinity; Supreme Court endorsed it for migrant workers during COVID-19.
